What is Acidity?
Acidity or acid reflux happens when there is excess secretion of acids in the gastric glands of the stomach. The lower oesophageal sphincter, a circular muscle joins our oesophagus and stomach. It is in charge of tightening our oesophagus after the food passes to the stomach. If this muscle becomes weak or if doesn’t tighten properly, the acid from your stomach can tend to move back into your oesophagus. This is known as acid reflux.
It is characterized by heartburn around the lower chest area, then producing gas, bad breath, stomach ache, and other symptoms.

Home Remedies for Acidity:
Mint:
Mint leaves are popular home remedies for acidity. Every morning, chew some mint leaves empty-stomached this will not only reduce acidity but also helps in proper digestion.
Coconut Water:
Coconut is mostly known for the medicinal qualities to cure diseases. By consuming coconut water empty stomach helps in fighting acidity. Additionally, you can make a mixture using coconut water and fresh peeled cucumber in a juicer, having this drink after 15-20 minutes of a meal is considered to be very helpful.
Orange Juice with Cumin Seeds:
Add roasted cumin seeds to a glass of fresh orange juice. By drinking this juice after the first signs of acidity to get a quick relief. For long-term benefits, it can be consumed daily.
Apple Cider Vinegar:
Apple Cider Vinegar is one of the best sources for acidity. Mix 2-3 tablespoons of Apple cider Vinegar to a glass of water and drink it for quick relief.
Lemon Juice:
Add 2-3 tablespoons of lemon juice in a glass of Luke warm water and drink before having a heavy meal. Repeat this twice a day for quick results.
Ginger:
Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties & digestive which neutralizes stomach acids. Add a piece of ginger to boiling water and let it cool for sometime. Drink the water after the first signs of acidity.
Cinnamon:
Cinnamon contains antacids that play a vital role in reducing acidic reaction It can be consumed with warm water or preferably tea.
Buttermilk:
Buttermilk contains lactic acid, which has the power to normalize the acidity in the stomach. Consume 2-3 glasses of buttermilk daily to get relief.
